A Bright New Boise

Date

February 2025

Carnegie Mellon University

School of Drama Senior Capstone

A Bright New Boise follows Will, a disgraced evangelical from northern Idaho, who seeks to reconnect with his son before the rapture comes. He applies for a job at the Boise Hobby Lobby and as he tries to make things right with the son he abandoned, a dark past is unearthed and the employees of the once-calm store contend with the chaos he has brought them. By examining the lives of five disparate souls trying to make it work in Boise, Idaho, A Bright New Boise questions what it means to find meaning in our lives, our opportunities in America, and how we can start and restart when we are seemingly unwanted.
